The Director of Food & Beverage Outlet Operations at The Newbury Boston plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of service excellence and operational efficiency across the hotel’s food and beverage outlets, including The Street Bar, In-Room Dining, and minibar services. As a senior operational leader, this role demands a highly visible, hands-on approach, overseeing daily floor operations to ensure guests receive impeccable service and memorable experiences.

This position involves close collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director of Food & Beverage to lead front-of-house teams and orchestrate seamless service across all periods of operation. Approximately 80-85% of the role focuses on active management of floor operations, while 15-20% encompasses administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, financial oversight, inventory control, and team development.

The Director is entrusted with driving service leadership, operational oversight, beverage and inventory management, financial stewardship, team leadership, and the enhancement of overall guest satisfaction. This leadership role directly contributes to achieving revenue and profitability objectives and fosters a culture of professionalism and excellence among the service team. The role requires a nuanced understanding of luxury service standards, health and safety regulations, and financial controls within a highly dynamic and guest-focused environment.

Job Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a luxury hotel/restaurant environment
  • or a 4-year college degree in hospitality/restaurant field and at least 2 years of related experience
  • or a 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience
  • experience in working in a restaurant, bar or In-Room Dining operations within a luxury hospitality setting
  • proficiency in Windows, company approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations
  • strong understanding of beverage operations and inventory management preferred
  • demonstrated success leading service teams in fast-paced, guest-focused operations
  • strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire and develop teams
  • ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
  • ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines

Job Duties

  • Act as the senior floor leader during service periods, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and seamless operations
  • maintain a consistent and visible presence in The Street Bar and In Room Dining operations
  • ensure luxury service standards are consistently executed and aligned with the hotel’s brand positioning
  • lead daily service briefings and communicate operational priorities to outlet teams
  • support service recovery and personally engage with guests to enhance the dining experience
  • oversee front of house operations for The Street Bar and In Room Dining
  • provide operational oversight of the hotel’s minibar program, ensuring consistent presentation, product quality, and operational efficiency
