The Ontario Convention Center, located in Ontario, California, partners with Legends Global for superior food and beverage operations. The company is currently seeking a Director of Food & Beverage to lead and oversee all aspects of food and beverage services within this venue. This role carries a salary of $125,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and includes comprehensive benefits.
The Director of Food & Beverage position demands strategic leadership and operational management capabilities. The successful candidate will oversee concessions, premium hospitality, suites, catering, and special event operations, ensuring that all guest experiences surpass expectations. Accountability for operational excellence and maintaining financial performance metrics is critical in this leadership role. The Director will lead management teams, nurture strong relationships with venue partners, clients, and internal stakeholders, and align operations with the company’s policies and standards.
Key responsibilities include budget management, food sales analysis, operational efficiency, client satisfaction, development of operational standards, supporting new business initiatives, promoting growth within accounts, collaboration with finance and support functions, enforcing health and safety compliance, and conducting event-related financial and operational reviews. Candidates for this role should demonstrate extensive leadership experience within food and beverage operations at large venues such as arenas, convention centers, or hospitality environments.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Food & Beverage Management, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years in leadership roles. Experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, labor management, vendor relations, and contract negotiation is preferred. Additionally, familiarity with union environments is advantageous. The role also requires obtaining SERV Safe or Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can communicate effectively across all organizational levels, including management, staff, clients, and vendors. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and potentially late-hours is essential. The physical demands include pushing, pulling, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, and walking significant distances. Job Duties
- Review, approve, and monitor budgets, making recommendations regarding adjustments as needed
- analyze food sales, attendance, and labor data to maintain cost control and operational efficiency
- oversee food and beverage sales projections and budget performance for all assigned events and accounts
- ensure high standards of guest service and client satisfaction during all events
- develop and implement operational standards across all food and beverage operations
- support new business development initiatives by identifying opportunities for new clients, contracts, permits, and partnerships
- direct growth of food and beverage accounts by promoting services to new and existing clients
- collaborate with finance and support teams to ensure operational alignment and compliance with company policies
- maintain cost and quality control standards and ensure all facilities and equipment meet state and local health regulations
- lead operational planning for events and conduct post-event financial and operational reviews
