This position is located at the JW Marriott property situated at 1800 Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, California. This full-time management role offers an annual salary ranging from $164,000 to $218,000 and includes eligibility for bonuses. As a strategic business leader overseeing the property's food and beverage and culinary operations, the role encompasses management of multiple facets including restaurants, bars, room service, and banquet/catering services where applicable. The individual in this role is responsible for developing and implementing departmental strategies aligned with the brand's service standards and broader business objectives.
In this role, the Director of Food and Beverage/Culinary leads initiatives to meet the needs of the brand's target customers while simultaneously ensuring high employee satisfaction, growing revenues, and maximizing the financial performance of the department. The position demands a deep understanding of customer service excellence, financial resource management, and operational leadership. The director collaborates closely with the food and beverage leadership team to set expectations and hold team members accountable for outstanding service behaviors. Financial oversight includes reviewing reports, managing budgets, and making strategic recommendations for capital expenditures to enhance equipment and facilities in line with the brand strategy.
The role also involves proactive leadership by encouraging innovation, improving service performance, and establishing clear, achievable goals that align with the company’s standards. Leading and mentoring the food and beverage team is a core responsibility, along with fostering a positive work culture built on trust, respect, and cooperation. The director ensures that open communication channels exist at all levels within the department, facilitating pre-meal briefings, staff meetings, and collaborative interactions.
Customer service remains paramount, with the role requiring continual assessment and improvement based on guest feedback, satisfaction surveys, and comment cards. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Six years experience in food and beverage, culinary, event management, or related professional area
- OR two-year degree from accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
- Four years experience in food and beverage, culinary, event management, or related professional area
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to lead and influence teams
- Experience in financial management and budgeting
- Demonstrated leadership and integrity

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
