Job Description
Oral Roberts University (ORU) is a well-established non-profit higher education institution committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of its students through dedicated staff and faculty. Rooted in a values-driven culture, ORU prioritizes a passionate and supportive environment where its team members collaborate to achieve the university's mission and vision. As a faith-based institution, ORU integrates spiritual development with academic excellence, emphasizing servant leadership and community engagement. The university fosters innovation and upholds high professional standards, creating an atmosphere where employees can grow professionally while contributing to a purpose larger than themselves.
Currently, Oral Roberts University is accepting applications for various positions, including a critical role as the Director of Event Production Services. This is a full-time position vital to ensuring the success of all audio, video, and lighting production aspects across the campus, supporting a broad range of events, productions, and special projects. The Director of Event Production Services plays a central role in the technical execution and creative leadership behind the university’s numerous events, working closely with internal teams and external clients to deliver polished and professional production experiences.
The Director’s primary focus lies in audio engineering, but the role extends to managing video and lighting production, guaranteeing smooth operation and technical excellence. This position demands a strategic thinker who can oversee technical policies, lead production teams, and spearhead large-scale audiovisual projects aligned with the university’s goals. Responsibilities include establishing standard operating procedures for campus facilities, troubleshooting equipment issues, scheduling and managing resources, and continuous maintenance and upgrades of production technology.
Beyond technical oversight, the Director leads personnel management efforts, encompassing staff training, supervision, and ensuring safety compliance for all production-related activities. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is key, requiring strong leadership skills, effective communication, and diplomacy in high-pressure environments. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in audio/video engineering within church, theatrical, or concert settings, preferably with familiarity in faith-based or ministry contexts.
To succeed, the candidate must demonstrate mastery of industry-standard production systems and software, such as Pro Tools, Waves, ProPresenter, GrandMA, and various mixing consoles, alongside knowledge of networked audio protocols like Dante and Milan. The role demands a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, setting high standards for every event and client interaction. Physical demands include the ability to perform manual tasks involved in setup, operation, and maintenance of equipment, often requiring lifting and working at variable locations on campus.
Oral Roberts University values diversity and equal employment opportunity, welcoming candidates from all backgrounds who are passionate about leveraging their skills in a faith-oriented academic environment. By joining ORU as the Director of Event Production Services, professionals have the opportunity to advance their careers in a vibrant university setting dedicated to excellence in both education and technical event production.
