Job Description
This position is with an established hospitality group specializing in full-service event management and banquet operations, catering primarily to corporate, private, and large-scale social events. Operating within the hospitality industry, the company is known for delivering high-quality event experiences through meticulous planning, execution, and guest service excellence. The Event Operations Department plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless event delivery, managing all aspects of banquet and event service, as well as event technology operations.
The role of Event Operations Manager is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the entire event service team, including Senior Banquet Managers, Banquet Managers, Senior Event Service Managers, Event Service Managers, and Event Technology and Operations Managers. The incumbent manages daily event operations to guarantee the highest level of service from the initial planning phase through to event execution and breakdown. With an emphasis on maximizing revenue opportunities through effective up-selling during events and controlling costs, this role contributes significantly to the department's financial performance.
Working closely with the management team, the Event Operations Manager develops and implements strategic business plans for event operations, establishes measurable goals, and ensures that departmental policies and standards are consistently upheld. Key responsibilities include overseeing event logistics, administrative functions, maintenance of facilities and equipment, staff training in safety and emergency procedures, and managing certifications for technical staff. The position also involves regular coordination with other property stakeholders, including culinary teams and human resources, to ensure compliance with food safety and labor regulations.
Customer satisfaction and employee engagement are fundamental to the role. The manager consults directly with clients to understand event objectives and requirements, maintaining positive relationships to support client retention and business growth through referrals and repeat engagements. Leadership in guest hospitality is critical, setting a standard for excellent customer service and a welcoming event atmosphere.
Financial management is another core element, where the Event Operations Manager ensures adherence to budgets, reviews operational performance, and implements adjustments based on emerging industry trends and business needs. The role requires participation in corporate initiatives and promotion execution, contributing to the overall visibility and success of the event operations function.
The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or GED with significant professional experience in event management or related fields such as food and beverage, sales, and marketing. Alternatively, candidates with a two-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related discipline with relevant work experience will also be considered. Job Duties
- Work with management team to develop and implement business plan and long term strategies for event operations
- Establish and monitor measurable goals for the department
- Champion all standards, policies and procedures in the Event Operations departments
- Oversee execution of event logistics for all events
- Oversee administrative processes associated with event phases
- Ensure function spaces and heart of the house areas are cleaned and maintained
- Ensure furniture and equipment are maintained and inventory levels kept as per corporate guidelines
- Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures
- Ensure staff training in safety procedures
- Participate in MVP audits and certification for technicians
- Ensure employees maintain required certifications
- Assist with implementation and execution of event-related corporate initiatives and promotions
- Ensure department operates within budget and adjust expenditures
- Maintain awareness of event management trends and integrate them
- Review effectiveness of event operations and adjust annually
- Consult with customers to determine event objectives and requirements
- Display leadership in guest hospitality and excellent customer service
- Maintain customer satisfaction to ensure retention and growth
- Lead execution of activities supporting Event Management strategy
- Lead event management and operations meetings
- Coordinate Event Operations members of Event Delivery teams
- Work with culinary team to ensure food handling compliance
- Work with Human Resources to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Ensure ongoing communication in all areas of event operations
- Communicate with property departments outside Event Operations
- Maintain relationships with guests, clients, vendors, and competitors
- Review staffing levels and collaborate on event scheduling
- Attend pre-event meetings to set expectations and collect information
- Ensure disciplinary procedures are completed according to SOPs and LSOPs and support Peer Review Process
