Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree preferred in culinary arts or related field
  • five years minimum experience as an executive chef
  • valid ServSafe certification
  • strong leadership and management skills
  • excellent organizational and budgeting abilities
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to develop innovative menus
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree in culinary arts preferred or associate degree with equivalent experience
  • minimum of five years' experience as an executive chef in the hospitality industry
  • current ServSafe certification

Job Duties

  • assist in planning, preparation, and execution of special events, banquets, and theme meals
  • use innovation, imagination, originality, and talent to produce menus and recipes utilizing high-quality ingredients within budget
  • understand and maintain monthly and annual food and beverage department budgets
  • review and adjust menus based on seasonal ingredients, recipe improvements, supply chain constraints, rebates, and cost changes
  • ensure purchasing standards are maintained and approved vendors are used
  • maintain strong and positive vendor relationships
  • accurately report and submit monthly inventory of food and beverage supplies
  • interview, hire, and train culinary and back of the house staff
  • manage and supervise culinary staff including scheduling, assigning, directing, performance reviews, hiring, and corrective actions
  • collaborate with community leadership to achieve department customer satisfaction and health survey goals
  • conduct preventive maintenance programs for kitchen equipment
  • ensure dietary needs and restrictions are met
  • enforce food policies on hygiene, storage, and handling
  • manage food preparation control to minimize waste
  • oversee production of accurate daily records
  • provide ongoing training to kitchen staff on food preparation and presentation
  • collaborate with the Hospitality Manager to ensure front and back of house cooperation
  • work with staff to deliver outstanding customer service
  • coordinate with marketing and activities for resident special needs and event planning
  • meet regularly with residents and families to ensure satisfaction
  • advise community leadership of resident concerns
  • assist kitchen and restaurant staff in operations as needed
