Job Requirements

  • Educational background in hospitality or related field preferred
  • Minimum of six years progressive hotel or food and beverage management experience
  • Proven leadership in multi-outlet and banquet operational settings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing software
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation, health, sanitation, and liquor regulations
  • Ability to work long hours including evenings and weekends
  • Physical capability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle guest and employee concerns effectively
  • Multitasking and time-management abilities
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Compliance with company standards and legal regulations
  • Effective problem anticipation and resolution skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to participate in training and hotel meetings

Job Qualifications

  • At least six years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field or a four-year college degree and three years related experience or a two-year college degree and four or more years related experience
  • Five years of food and beverage leadership experience in a multi-outlet and banquet operational environment
  • Proficient in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Effective listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information
  • Maintain confidentiality of information

Job Duties

  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees
  • Supervise all food and beverage personnel
  • Respond to guest complaints promptly
  • Prepare the food and beverage budget and monitor department performance
  • Monitor industry trends and take action to maintain competitiveness and profitability
  • Communicate food and beverage issues to Executive Committee members
  • Keep supervisor informed of problems requiring attention
  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of loss prevention in the food and beverage department
  • Prepare and submit required reports timely
  • Organize and conduct regular department meetings
  • Monitor quality of service and product
  • Cooperate in menu planning and preparation
  • Ensure timely purchase of food and beverage items within budget
  • Oversee employee cafeteria operations
  • Ensure compliance with liquor laws and health regulations
  • Ensure departmental compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Train department heads on SOPs, report preparation, and technical job tasks
  • Conduct or attend departmental and hotel training sessions
  • Interview candidates for front-of-house food and beverage positions
  • Conduct and attend required meetings including pre- and post-convention meetings
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
