The role of Director, Event Technology II (DET II) is a critical leadership position within Encore's venue operations. This role is responsible for managing one or multiple locations with venue revenues ranging from $900,000 to $3.75 million and ensuring these locations meet and exceed revenue and profitability goals. Reporting to the Area Director or Regional Vice President, Venues, the DET II leads a team dedicated to providing world-class service and cultivating strong partnerships with venue personnel and clients. The position emphasizes fostering high performance, accountability, continuous improvement, and a collaborative culture that values learning and quality. The DET II oversees financial management, operational efficiency, sales strategy development, customer satisfaction, technical troubleshooting, and personnel development, all aimed at driving Encore's success within their assigned venues. Strong leadership skills and a customer-focused approach are essential for this role, as the DET II manages resources to maximize revenue, maintain high service standards, and support the professional growth of their team. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of audio-visual experience
  • At least 2 years of operations or supervisory experience
  • Preferably 3 years of customer service or hospitality experience
  • Sales experience is beneficial
  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment in live environments
  • Proficiency in computer hardware and software
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Valid driver's license when operating company vehicles

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of audio-visual experience
  • 2+ years of operations or supervisory experience
  • 3+ years of customer service or hospitality experience preferred
  • Sales experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment in a live show environment
  • Proficiency with computer hardware
  • Proficiency with computer software such as Internet and Microsoft Office

Job Duties

  • Drive results by managing an efficient and profitable operation with a focused approach on revenue maximization and profitability using cost control measures
  • Achieve Encore's financial goals for the locations by managing labor, equipment sub-rentals and other costs
  • Understand and utilize operational and financial reports and complete standard and ad hoc reports accurately and on time
  • Utilize the company billing system to coordinate invoicing activities and ensure billing is reviewed and approved by clients
  • Complete sales forecasts at home locations and ensure timely and accurate submission
  • Participate in business review presentations in collaboration with regional management
  • Review and manage location profit and loss statements and develop action plans to address deficiencies or grow the business
  • Confirm venue partners process all payments to Encore in a timely manner
  • Perform daily floor operations including scheduling and equipment setups, operation, and strikes
  • Assist on the floor as needed
  • Ensure all equipment and services are delivered on time, in good working condition, as specified by clients and venues, and in accordance with brand standards
  • Anticipate equipment challenges and changes professionally and timely
  • Use inventory control procedures to maintain proper inventory levels while ensuring safety, security, and quality assurance
  • Share labor and equipment efficiently within the local market
  • Attend operational venue meetings such as daily stand-ups with venue staff
  • Work with Regional Sales Director to create effective sales strategies to maximize revenue per event for assigned customers including upselling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations that convey Encore's value and solve customer challenges
  • Effectively prepare and present quotes and proposals timely to customers
  • Attend site visits and pre-conference planning meetings to support the customer event experience
  • Collaborate with vendors and other departments to capture and service events
  • Understand event cost structures and incorporate them into solution designs according to profitability guidelines
  • Attend customer meetings to understand goals and address questions and concerns
  • Ensure all customer information is up to date and accurate in the Customer Relationship Management system
  • Maintain knowledge of new product and service offerings and emerging technology
  • Create and present performance, pipeline, and forecasting reports to senior management
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with customers, venue personnel and Encore internal departments
  • Manage personnel to assist with event execution
  • Exceed internal and external customer expectations
  • Meet guests on-site to confirm needs and equipment setups
  • Monitor small to medium events and check in with customers
  • Enforce employee and venue standards for professional and polished image
  • Oversee technical aspects and apply troubleshooting skills to guide technicians
  • Act as on-site technical expert as needed
  • Promote high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement culture
  • Manage staffing, performance management, and team development
  • Provide coaching and training on Encore standards and equipment
  • Recommend training opportunities for team members
