The position of Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) at Paramount is a critical leadership role responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the company-wide environmental, health, and safety programs. This entrepreneurial leader plays a vital role in ensuring the compliance of all Paramount operations with internal policies and a wide array of local, state, and federal regulations, including those enforced by OSHA, Cal/OSHA, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), Los Angeles Fire Department CUPA agencies, and legislation related to the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.

The Director will provide operational support across all Paramount and affiliate locations with a special emphasis on the Paramount Studio Lot. This role requires a highly collaborative, anticipatory, and innovative approach to problem-solving and leadership. Responsibilities include conducting EHS audits and inspections, managing incident investigations, overseeing environmental programs such as waste management, asbestos abatement, hazardous waste disposal, and groundwater remediation, and serving as a primary liaison to regulatory agencies.

This position demands a hands-on leader who is skilled in managing specialized environmental initiatives, maintaining compliance with complex regulatory frameworks, and driving continuous improvement in safety culture across Paramount's dynamic media environment. Furthermore, the Director will create and facilitate training programs, develop job safety analyses, and ensure thorough documentation and communication of safety standards. By partnering closely with production teams, this role helps enforce strict safety protocols that protect employees, contractors, and visitors alike.

Paramount offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $175,000 annually, reflecting the significance of the role and the level of expertise required. Job Requirements

  • minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in environmental health & safety and program implementation
  • minimum 3 years of safety leadership team experience
  • certified safety professional (CSP)
  • bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental health & safety or related field of study
  • demonstrated knowledge in the areas of federal state and local regulations on environmental compliance
  • proficient in MS Office 365 suite including SharePoint PowerPoint Excel Outlook and Teams and other related applications
  • ability to make funding decisions and recommendations and manage a budget
  • travel as required to support business needs

Job Duties

  • ensure studio corporate and news operations comply with all applicable Paramount policies and local state and federal safety regulations including Cal/OSHA requirements
  • develop implement and continuously improve comprehensive EHS programs that ensure organizational compliance with all relevant laws and regulations including but not limited to EHS audits workplace inspections fall protection injury and illness prevention lockout/tagout confined space entry bloodborne pathogens hazard communication ladder safety forklift operations and respiratory protection
  • conduct EHS audits and workplace inspections including fall protection
  • manage compliance with all EHS record-keeping and reporting requirements
  • lead the incident investigation process using root-cause analysis methodologies to identify contributing factors and drive corrective and preventive actions
  • manage activities of vendors contractors and consultants develop scopes of work and procedures for areas like waste management recycling and asbestos abatement
  • oversee groundwater remediation indoor air quality NPDES compliance and hazardous waste disposal
  • serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and inspectors including SCAQMD Cal/OSHA and the City of Los Angeles authorities
  • support compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) for hazardous waste storage handling and disposal
  • support air quality compliance programs including SCAQMD VOC regulations and California Air Resources Board Air Toxic Control Measures
  • manage specialized environmental programs including mold remediation and fats oils and grease (FOG) compliance
  • oversee the chemical safety program including the hazardous materials business plan chemical inventory management and safety data sheet administration
  • help manage responses to regulatory issues related to contaminated groundwater at Paramount properties guide effective and timely cleanup methods
  • create EHS training programs and materials while maintaining precise training records
  • develop Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for all job categories
  • serve as a subject-matter resource for employees and third-party partners on safety concerns best practices and compliance requirements
  • collaborate closely with production services and production safety teams to ensure adherence to Paramount backlot safety guidelines
  • monitor emerging regulatory developments and industry best practices to inform policy updates and continuous improvement of EHS programs
