The Director of Dining Services position within the Education sector is a pivotal leadership role responsible for steering the successful launch and ongoing operations of a significant dining account. Reporting directly to the Resident District Manager, the Director ensures the highest standards in food quality, service consistency, and operational excellence while prioritizing client satisfaction. This role involves close oversight of consumption patterns to limit waste, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company policies, and cultivating a culture of continuous advancement.
Key responsibilities of the Director include leading a diverse team through effective mentoring, hands-on coaching, and comprehensive training, which strengthens skills and drives exceptional performance. Collaboration is essential, as the Director works closely with other Directors of Dining Services, Executive Chefs, and cross-functional leaders in marketing, finance, human resources, communications, and dietetics to guarantee smooth menu execution and strict adherence to best practices. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining uncompromising quality standards and creating dining experiences that exceed expectations school-wide.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- minimum five years of foodservice management experience
- proven leadership and team management ability
- thorough knowledge of food safety regulations
- strong financial management skills
- effective communication skills
- proficiency in computer applications
- ServSafe certification
- ability to work flexible hours as needed
- strong problem-solving skills
- ability to maintain high standards of quality and service
- valid work authorization
Job Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Food Services, Hospitality, Nutrition, Culinary, or related field or A.A. degree plus four years of directly related education experience
- five plus years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
- strong knowledge of food and catering trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience desirable
- strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills
- strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- ability to communicate on various levels including management, client, customer, and associate levels
- excellent financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills
- proficient computer skills including various programs, Microsoft Office, email, and Internet
- ServSafe certified
Job Duties
- Manages hourly associates in the Food Service Department
- oversees the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the account
- interviews, hires, and trains associates
- plans, assigns, and directs work
- appraises performance
- rewards and disciplines associates
- addresses complaints and resolves problems
- prepares and manages annual budget
- utilizes company systems for completion of required daily, weekly, and monthly reports such as inventory, cash reports, production records, payroll, and time-keeping
- oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in adherence to company food standards including preparation, presentation, sanitation, safety, HACCP and OSHA guidelines, and portion control
- performs other duties as assigned
