UChicago Dining is a pivotal department within the University of Chicago that oversees all foodservice contracts between various campus entities and the University itself. Acting as a crucial communication bridge between contractors and clients, UChicago Dining ensures seamless coordination and management of dining services across the campus. Job Requirements
- College or university degree in related field
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience

Job Duties
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of dining operations and recommend changes to improve efficiency and end-user experience
- manage mystery diner participation including sign-ups orientation and reporting
- perform daily transaction balancing within POS systems to identify and resolve discrepancies
- visit all dining locations weekly to assess operations monitor compliance standards and provide observations
- oversee daily meal plan and campus card transactions including data entry and balancing
- input and update meal plan or declining-balance purchases in databases
- generate basic ad hoc and scheduled reports such as dining transactions for on-campus locations
- serve as event management system user coordinating dining-related events and scheduling
- provide operational support for special dining initiatives including administrative coordination
- provide first-line support for campus POS systems and peripheral devices resolving routine issues
- diagnose and correct minor technical or network problems coordinating with central IT as needed
- update POS databases with new menu items
- request and manage access credentials for vendor staff
- address and triage technology requests escalating complex issues
- work closely with university staff and third-party vendors to support daily operations ensuring consistent service
- conduct walkthroughs and assist audits of dining facilities identifying issues and sharing findings for resolution
- monitor compliance with health safety and sanitation standards providing recommendations
- support new initiatives assisting with staff training communication and follow-up
- document operational issues and solutions for continuous improvement
- assist vendors and dining staff with technology requests escalating higher-level concerns
- provide customer service for meal plans dining balances and technology support
- maintain email lists for dining system updates facilitating information sharing
- utilize vendor contracts to monitor compliance ensuring equipment inventory and resources meet standards
- stay informed of new food service technology trends attending events for networking and development
- follow policies ensuring data integrity and security complying with PCI-DSS standards
- communicate security and compliance updates with staff
- offer limited operational oversight coordinating with supervisors and vendor representatives
- provide occasional off-hours or weekend support for urgent issues system upgrades or major events
- assist with new duties due to departmental or university needs
- conduct business process analyses needs assessments and cost/benefit analyses
- implement system and program specifications assisting revisions of system logic
- perform other related work as needed
