The Dining Services area at Purdue University Northwest is seeking a dedicated Dining Services Manager to join its team. This role is pivotal in maintaining high-quality dining operations across campus facilities, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Dining Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily front-of-house operations, which includes managing and supervising a diverse team of front-line staff and student employees. The manager will ensure that dining services meet high standards of customer service, food safety, and overall operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment; coordinating opening and closing procedures; handling cash and register accountability; and supporting smooth meal service periods. Collaboration with culinary and back-of-house teams is essential for seamless service delivery. Furthermore, the manager will assist with marketing promotions, special campus dining events, and support team development and employee engagement initiatives. This is an exempt position that requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced setting and manage multiple priorities effectively. The role may involve flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends during peak semesters, and requires the ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing between 10 to 40 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year of experience in food service or hospitality operations
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with POS systems and cash handling preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to use personal vehicle for university business
  • Must meet minimum driver qualifications as defined by the University
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move 10 to 25 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • One year of experience in food service, dining, or hospitality operations
  • Previous supervisory experience in food service, hospitality, or campus dining preferred
  • Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and scheduling preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
  • Ability to lead and motivate diverse teams
  • Passion for creating a positive campus dining experience
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to use personal vehicle for university business
  • Must meet the minimum driver qualifications as defined by the University’s use of vehicles for business policy

Job Duties

  • Manage daily front-of-house operations for campus dining locations
  • Supervise, train, coach, and schedule front-of-house staff and student employees
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and guest satisfaction
  • Monitor dining room appearance, cleanliness, and organization
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and register accountability
  • Support meal periods to ensure efficient service and positive guest experiences
  • Collaborate with culinary and back-of-house teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Assist with marketing promotions, special events, and campus dining programs
  • Ensure team members follow proper uniform, safety, and service standards
  • Support employee engagement and team development initiatives
  • Prepare operational reports and assist with administrative duties as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
