Job Requirements
- Must be able to operate equipment such as mixers, stoves, microwaves, blending equipment, coffee makers, ovens (occasionally), slicer
- Must be proficient in using sharp cooking utensils such as knives
- Must have the ability to understand directions
- Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English
- Must be able to multi-task and work with a high degree of flexibility
- Must have special training for care and treatment of dementia residents if assigned to dementia care
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work with dietary staff, residents, families and other community staff
- Must adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the employee handbook
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Six months to one year related experience preferred
- Ability to learn basic computer applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with dietary staff, residents, families and other community staff
- Ability to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
Job Duties
- Assist cook as needed
- Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator
- Prepare nourishments according to community procedures
- Execute the sanitation process including washing tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping floors, taking trash to dumpster, washing dishes and silverware, cleaning equipment, and maintaining clean work areas
- Assist with meal service duties such as setting tables, serving meal trays, checking tray accuracy, clearing tables, pushing food carts, and communicating with residents
- Follow safety and security guidelines and protocols for residents
- Provide care and services following dementia care protocols
- Participate in educational and training activities as appropriate
- Perform all other duties as assigned or directed
