Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel, or crouch during job duties
  • Adequate sight and hearing
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to read and follow safety and procedural instructions
  • Dependable and organized
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Training in Servsafe is beneficial
  • One year of food service experience preferred including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation protocols, basic food/meal prep
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions
  • Dependable, detail oriented, organized, and good follow-through
  • Ability to work within standard policy and procedures with limited supervision
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations
  • Patience and compassion toward senior adults
  • Knowledge and understanding of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles
  • Ability to work well with employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance according to organizational and state food code standards

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
  • Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
  • Bus and reset tables as needed
  • Prepare salad bar items for lunch
  • Fill salad bar with ice and set for service, including gathering plates and bowls as necessary for salad bar and soup kettles
  • Prepare and stage desserts
  • Light food prep for special events
  • Assist in setting up meetings or other special events, including delivery of snacks, coffee, tea
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and senior living/healthcare requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed
  • Open and close dining rooms as needed
