Job Requirements

  • high school diploma required
  • current food handler's permit required
  • preferred one year of food service experience including serving/waiting tables and kitchen sanitation
  • ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
  • ability to follow written instructions and safety practices
  • dependable and detail oriented
  • able to work with limited direct supervision
  • ability to handle multiple tasks and functions
  • physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel or crouch during work
  • good sight and hearing
  • maintain professional appearance and comply with dress code
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • maintain a courteous and compassionate demeanor towards senior residents

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma
  • current food handler's permit
  • training in ServSafe is beneficial
  • at least one year of food service experience including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation protocols, and basic food/meal preparation
  • effective communication skills verbal and written in English
  • ability to read and understand written instructions and follow safety practices
  • cordial and congenial with residents
  • dependable, detail oriented, organized, and good follow through
  • ability to work within standard policy and procedures with limited supervision
  • ability to handle a variety of tasks and functions
  • calm reaction in emergency situations

Job Duties

  • assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
  • serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the dining room or bistro
  • bus and reset tables as needed
  • prepare salad bar items for lunch, fill salad bar with ice and set for service, including gathering plates and bowls for salad bar and soup kettles
  • prepare and stage desserts
  • perform light food prep for special events
  • assist in setting up meetings and other special events, including delivery of snacks, coffee, and tea
  • follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and senior living/healthcare requirements
  • maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled or needed
  • open and close dining rooms as needed
