The company is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, offering career growth and opportunities in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
This job opening is for the position of a VIP Server at ASM Global's TechPort Center and Arena located in San Antonio, Texas. This part-time hourly role reports directly to the Director of Food and Beverage (F&B) Operations and falls under the Food and Beverage department. The VIP Server plays a crucial role in providing exceptional food and beverage service to guests within VIP settings during various events hosted at the facility. The core responsibility is to ensure a professional and attentive experience for clients, enhancing their event participation through meticulous service delivery.
The VIP Server supports event planning and management by assisting with event setup and organization, while maintaining constant communication with clients, event staff, and management to address any needs or concerns promptly. This includes overseeing temporary staff assigned to specific events and ensuring all service duties, such as garnishes, beverage preparation, and banquet equipment handling, are conducted flawlessly. The role demands a strong customer service orientation, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates are required to have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and possess Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) and Texas Food Handlers certifications. Previous experience of 1-3 years in food service or restaurant settings is mandatory, reflecting familiarity with high-quality dining service standards and safety protocols. The position requires applicants to be at least 21 years of age and capable of working evenings, weekends, and holidays, often under pressure and with minimal supervision.
Physically, the role involves standing for extended periods, lifting loads up to 50 pounds, and working in varied environmental conditions including noise, heat, and kitchen odors. The VIP Server needs to maintain attention to detail, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and adapt quickly to changing event requirements. This job presents opportunities to engage with diverse clientele and contribute significantly to memorable event experiences at a premier venue. ASM Global encourages applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans, reflecting their commitment to equal opportunity employment.
