Job Description

The Palace at Coral Gables is a premier luxury independent living community located in the vibrant city of Coral Gables, Florida. Recognized as the best independent living community in the United States by the National Association of Home Builders in 2014, The Palace prides itself on offering an exceptional living experience for active adults. The community emphasizes elegant living combined with personalized services designed to support the lifestyle and well-being of its residents. Situated at 1 Andalusia Avenue Coral Gables, FL 33134, The Palace is part of a network of luxury senior living communities that include locations in Kendall and Homestead, creating a well-regarded regional presence for upscale senior living.

The Palace at Coral Gables is currently seeking a dedicated and attentive Server to join the team. This role is central to creating an enjoyable dining experience for residents and their guests. As a Server, your primary responsibility will be to take menu selections and serve meals to residents while ensuring that their dietary restrictions and preferences are respected. The position demands a warm and engaging presence to foster a pleasant atmosphere during every meal-time, making dining not just a routine but a delightful event for each resident.

The role involves setting up the dining room for meals, serving residents in assigned sections, and assisting residents during buffet events by helping them select food and drinks and carrying their plates. Attention to detail is crucial, including cleaning and resetting tables as per supervisor instructions, managing proper food and supply storage, and adhering to sanitary food handling and equipment safety standards. Working in this position requires familiarity with basic kitchen equipment and the ability to follow safety protocols diligently.

Candidates who excel in this role are expected to demonstrate patience, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, including empathetic listening, especially when interacting with elderly residents. The server must be capable of remembering residents’ names and preferences, contributing to a personalized and respectful dining experience. Being responsive to residents' changing needs during service and displaying flexibility for varying work schedules, including weekends, holidays, and emergencies, is vital.

The ideal candidate for the server position at The Palace at Coral Gables is responsible, outgoing, punctual, quick on their feet, resourceful, and strong enough to carry food trays. They should be accurate in taking food orders and patient with residents who may change their minds frequently. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with basic math skills and the ability to read and write in English, with Spanish language skills considered an advantage. College students are also encouraged to apply.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy teamwork but can also work independently, possess a strong work ethic, and are self-motivated. The environment is fast-paced and sometimes stressful; thus, the ability to multi-task and maintain composure under pressure is essential. The Palace at Coral Gables is committed to maintaining The Palace Principles, emphasizing positivity and proactive communication with residents.
