This particular opportunity is located at the Kimpton Palladian Hotel in Seattle, a 97-room landmark property that artfully combines masculine-chic style aesthetics with the vibrant energy and culture of Belltown. The hotel features refined amenities, bold design, a celebrated seafood restaurant, a speakeasy-style lounge, and is situated near iconic Seattle attractions like Pike Place Market and the waterfront.
The role of Host at the Kimpton Palladian is critical to delivering an exceptional guest experience within the hotel’s food and beverage outlets. The Host is tasked with promptly greeting and seating guests, providing courteous and attentive service, and supporting servers to ensure a smooth dining experience. This role also involves assisting with payment collection and performing operational duties in accordance with established standards. Success as a Host requires interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a warm and welcoming environment for all guests. The position demands flexibility, effective communication skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving guest needs and concerns. Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
- Ability to stand for entire shift
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible availability including long hours
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Willingness to comply with all hotel policies and safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
- Ability to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
- Ability to handle problems including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems
- Ability to show initiative including anticipating guest or operational needs
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times
Job Duties
- Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner
- Be attentive to guests' needs and assist in providing a pleasant dining experience
- Assist cashier in collection of money or credit cards from guests and servers as needed
- Know how to prepare cashier report at the end of the shift
- Pay out servers' and service attendants' tips if appropriate
- Know how to properly take reservations for outlets
- Ensure quality control of menus with regard to cleanliness and appearance
- Perform opening and closing duties according to established sidework checklist
- Have a complete knowledge of standards of service for receiving a room service order
- Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in all applicable departments
- Assist servers and cashiers in the servicing of guests as needed
- Know and understand the state liquor laws
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction
