Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language sufficiently to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests
  • Ability to repeatedly transport large serving trays weighing up to 40 pounds through crowded areas
  • Availability for rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
  • On-site presence at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center
  • Living within commutable distance to the medical center

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous food service and/or hospitality experience in a formal setting preferred
  • Formal black and white room service/waiter experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Graciously serve food and beverages to patients, staff, and visitors
  • Assist guests in selecting meals compliant with dietary restrictions
  • Articulate menu offerings and specials with appropriate descriptions
  • Monitor cleanliness and presentation of service equipment, flatware, plateware, and glassware prior to service
  • Promote various menu items and take accurate orders
  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service
  • Transport large serving trays weighing up to 40 pounds through crowded areas
