Mission Valley Post Acute is a leading healthcare facility specializing in post-acute care and rehabilitation services. They are currently seeking a dependable and motivated Dietary Cook to join their team on a part-time basis. This role is vital in supporting the nutritional health of residents by preparing nutritious and flavorful meals that meet specific dietary needs. The Dietary Cook will work closely with dietary staff and clinical teams to maintain a positive dining experience that enhances resident satisfaction and overall quality of care. The position involves preparing meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines, modifying meals to accommodate special dietary requirements such as low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modified diets. Maintaining strict food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards is a key responsibility, ensuring compliance with health regulations. The cook will also be responsible for kitchen cleanliness, inventory monitoring, and proper food storage and labeling.

This part-time position may require working weekends and holidays as needed, reflecting the facility's commitment to continuous care. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience in healthcare or food service preferred
  • Food Handler’s Certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to follow dietary guidelines and safety standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, or food service preferred
  • Familiarity with therapeutic and modified diets is a plus
  • Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable with strong attendance and punctuality
  • Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and specific dietary guidelines
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
  • Modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs, including low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modified diets
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times
  • Assist with monitoring inventory and communicating supply needs to leadership
  • Properly store and label food to ensure freshness and compliance with regulations
  • Collaborate with dietary staff and the clinical team to support residents' nutritional needs
  • Assist with meal service and ensure appropriate portion control
