Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience in healthcare or food service preferred
  • Food Handler’s Certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to follow dietary guidelines and safety standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, or food service preferred
  • Familiarity with therapeutic and modified diets is a plus
  • Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable with strong attendance and punctuality
  • Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and specific dietary guidelines
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
  • Modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs, including low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modified diets
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times
  • Assist with monitoring inventory and communicating supply needs to leadership
  • Properly store and label food to ensure freshness and compliance with regulations
  • Collaborate with dietary staff and the clinical team to support residents' nutritional needs
  • Assist with meal service and ensure appropriate portion control
