Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- One year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility preferred
- Food handlers permit current if required by state
- Evidence of being free of tuberculosis infection upon hire
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to deal tactfully with others
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Patience and tact
- Cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
Job Qualifications

- Must provide evidence of being free of tuberculosis infection upon hire
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

- Must possess ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and the public
- Must have strong teamwork and communication skills
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents
Job Duties
- Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Assist in establishing food service production line to assure that meals are prepared on time
- Process diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel and other departments within the facility
- Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus
- Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
