Job Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a dietary cook in a hospital or skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred but not necessary
- high school diploma is preferred
- stand/walk up to eight hours per day
- ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
- frequent kneeling, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching
Job Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a cook in a food service setting is preferred
- experience preparing food for a minimum census of 20 people is required
- knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential
- strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations
- experience with menu planning and catering is a plus
- excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- a culinary degree or certification is beneficial but not required
- relevant experience will be considered
Job Duties
- Preparation of and cooking a variety of meals according to dietary guidelines and nutritional and safety standards
- ensure presentation of all meals according to menu specifications as well as presentation standards
- maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food service areas while maintaining all inventory levels
- adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- collaborate with the dietary team to create and update balanced meal plans that cater to specific health needs
- assist in training new kitchen staff
- sincere desire to work with residents while maintaining a courteous, empathetic, and professional attitude
