The Dietary Aide/Porter role at FutureCare is an essential position within the Food & Hospitality Department. Under the direction of the Clinical Food Service Director, the Dietary Aide/Porter ensures the proper delivery of nutritional services to residents in alignment with established food sanitation, food handling, and safe serving policies. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the health, safety, and satisfaction of residents by carefully assisting in food preparation, serving meals, and ensuring sanitary dining environments. Responsibilities encompass assisting in preparing both hot and cold foods, timely delivery of meals to residents, adhering to temperature controls and storage protocols to prevent food spoilage, and operating kitchen equipment such as dishwashers while ensuring compliance with sanitation standards. This role requires physical stamina, as individuals will stand for extended periods and handle food carts and kitchen utilities weighing up to 50 pounds.

Beyond the technical duties, the role demands excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with residents and staff tactfully, diplomatically, and respectfully. The Dietary Aide/Porter functions as a team player who supports the kitchen's operational flow by assisting lead porters or other team members when moving large utilities. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or healthcare environment preferred
  • excellent communication skills
  • must be courteous and friendly at all times
  • must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • must be able to stand on your feet for 8 hours or longer
  • must be able to lift, push, and pull food carts and other food utility supplies up to 50lbs
  • ability to deal with residents and staff in a tactful, diplomatic and respectful manner
  • ability to follow all written and verbal instructions

Job Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods
  • serve and deliver food to residents as required
  • maintain cleanliness of dining areas as assigned
  • properly store food utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage
  • transport/deliver food/beverage items to assigned residents
  • assist Lead Porter or other staff in lifting or transporting large utilities within the kitchen area
  • load/operate dishwasher machine
  • ensure proper temperature, chemical supplies, and clean water levels are maintained for proper sanitation
