Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • some high school education required
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs up to waist level
  • ability to lift 15 to 30 lbs to chest level
  • ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • ability to walk, bend, stoop, twist, and reach
  • visual acuity corrected to normal

Job Duties

  • Assembles food items and delivers trays
  • refers to daily assignment sheet for the day's duty schedule
  • assembles cold food items for patient tray line following production sheets and verbal instructions
  • cleans and sanitizes work area upon completion of assembly process
  • transports assembled cold food items to serving area
  • sets up cold and hot serving stations with proper utensils, condiments, china, and silverware
  • inspects flatware, china, and trays for cleanliness and quality
  • assembles patient trays from color-coded menus, rotating work stations
  • assesses food quality and temperatures
  • delivers patient trays to nursing units
  • covers food and refrigerates leftovers
  • cleans equipment and work areas
  • removes and processes trays and trash through dishwashing including recycling
  • cleans and organizes storage areas
  • operates dishwasher and ensures proper functioning
  • inspects cleaned dishes
  • monitors wash and rinse temperatures
  • replenishes dishware and reports shortages
  • prepares and delivers daily nourishments
  • fills bulk nourishing requests
  • follows cleaning and sanitation schedules
  • recycles as specified
  • demonstrates dependability by following directions, completing tasks timely, following safety rules, punctuality, and attendance standards
  • demonstrates initiative by starting tasks independently, solving problems, and recommending improvements
  • exhibits teamwork by promoting unity and cooperation among departments
  • performs other duties as assigned
