Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Applicants age 50 and older are exempt from the educational requirement
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach frequently
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl occasionally
- Ability to move 11-24 pounds occasionally
- Must have received or be willing to receive MMR, Varicella, COVID-19, and flu vaccinations
- Must comply with Caregiver Law and Grant conditions including fingerprinting and background checks
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy
- Must submit proof of required immunizations prior to employment
- Must follow all Oneida Nation Personnel Policies and Procedures
- Must be able to work evening, weekend, and irregular shifts
- Must maintain strict security, confidentiality, and quality standards
- Must be willing to obtain additional related education and training
- Must provide required documentation such as diploma and certifications
- Must attend departmental and facility meetings as required
Job Qualifications
- General Education or High School Equivalency Diploma or higher
- Knowledge of food handling and safety techniques
- Ability to operate gas and electric cooking equipment and dishwasher
- Understanding of food preparation, presentation techniques, and quality standards
- Ability to interpret federal, state, county, and local laws and regulations related to food service
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
- Willingness to obtain certifications related to food service sanitation
- Experience in food service, long term care, or hospital settings preferred
Job Duties
- Cook and prepare food items with nutritional value and flavor according to standardized recipes and menus
- Ensure all prepared food items are stored, served, and distributed at appropriate temperature with proper sanitation conditions
- Prepare food and trays to meet individual resident's dietary needs
- Assist in the preparation and servicing of in-house special dinners and special function services
- Coordinate cooking and plate set-up for resident's trays according to scheduled service and delivery times
- Check in food deliveries and store food supplies properly to prevent contamination
- Maintain equipment and work area according to facility standards and federal, state, HACCP, and local regulations
- Clean and sanitize all equipment in kitchen daily
- Operate dishwasher with proper tools to ensure cleanliness of dishes and food service items
- Assist in maintaining safety and security of the Dietary Department including adhering to dress code and food service rules
- Communicate with residents to obtain input on meal preferences
- Attend all Dietary Department and facility meetings
