The Food Service Worker role within the FAC - NUTR Food & NUTR Moses department is essential in supporting the nutritional and dietary needs of patients. This position is a unionized role under bargaining unit 1199, characterized by day shifts running from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, with a schedule of alternate weekends. The position offers an hourly wage of $25.13, which may vary based on shift differentials, experience, and education. This full-time role involves a blend of food preparation, tray assembly, meal delivery, and maintenance of food service areas, ensuring that all meals served comply with dietary restrictions and quality standards.
The Food Service Worker prepares, pours, and portions meals according to departmental specifications and patient dietary guidelines. They manage the setup of tray lines, organize all necessary components for meal service including trays, dishes, and flatware, and ensure timely plating and delivery of meals to patients. Attention to detail is crucial, as it directly affects patient satisfaction and nutrition. Job Duties
- Prepare, pour, and portion food according to departmental standards and diet specifications
- Set up tray line stations by organizing all cooked and prepared foods, trays, dishes, flatware, and serving equipment
- Ensure timely plating and serving of all meals
- Deliver accurate and complete meal trays to patients, following dietary guidelines and restrictions
- Maintain cleanliness of all work areas, including counters, equipment, and food production spaces
- Wash pots, pans, utensils, and other food service equipment
- Remove rubbish from designated areas, including the kitchen, hot and cold production areas, ingredient room, storeroom, pot washing area, tray assembly line, and cafeteria
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures in compliance with hospital standards
- Assist with restocking food items, supplies, and equipment at various stations
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth meal service operations
- Report equipment or safety concerns promptly
- Support other food service tasks as assigned
