Job Description

The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to supporting children and families who have experienced trauma. Established with the mission to provide a coordinated response to child abuse cases, the center serves as a vital resource for the community by offering advocacy, support, and investigative services. The CAC focuses on fostering a safe environment where children's voices are heard and their well-being is prioritized. With a compassionate team of professionals and volunteers, the organization collaborates with law enforcement, social services, and medical professionals to ensure comprehensive care and justice for affected children. Situated in Greater Rochester, the center is well-recognized for its impactful work in child protection and community education, continuously striving to enhance its services and outreach efforts to better serve the community.

The Development & Marketing Intern role presents a unique opportunity for motivated individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience within the nonprofit sector. Reporting directly to the Events Manager, this internship offers exposure to multiple facets of development, marketing, and community outreach. The intern will play a vital role in supporting The CAC's mission through assisting with soliciting in-kind gifts, coordinating event logistics, managing volunteer activities, and engaging with donors and community partners. This role is particularly ideal for students or individuals seeking to build skills in fundraising, nonprofit development, and marketing strategies, while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Although this internship is unpaid, it offers a flexible schedule spanning approximately from May to August 2026, with the ability to adjust the start and end dates to accommodate student availability. The position requires reliable transportation due to local travel for events and community engagements. The Development & Marketing Intern will assist in marketing through social media coordination, email campaigns, and website updates, ensuring alignment with the organization's branding and communication goals. Additionally, the intern will conduct research on funding opportunities, participate in community and corporate event representation, and support donor stewardship and grant proposal development. This comprehensive scope allows interns to develop a wide range of professional skills relevant to communications, nonprofit management, and event planning.

The internship demands a highly organized, responsible, and ethical individual committed to the mission of The Child Advocacy Center. The role provides valuable exposure to real-world nonprofit practices and fosters professional growth in a supportive environment. Interns will work closely with the development team and gain insight into effective donor engagement, event preparation, volunteer coordination, and community outreach initiatives. Overall, this position is an excellent stepping-stone for those interested in pursuing a career in nonprofit development, marketing, or fundraising, providing meaningful experience and networking opportunities within the Greater Rochester community.
