The role of the Detailer is vital to the ongoing success of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's sales, service, and parts operations. The Detailer is responsible for the meticulous cleaning, maintenance, and transportation of new and pre-owned boats, motors, trailers, and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). This position requires a dedicated professional who supports world-class customer service by ensuring every unit is presented in top condition, providing customers with an excellent shopping and service experience. Responsibilities include washing, cleaning, waxing, and vacuuming both interiors and exteriors of vehicles, preparing them for scheduled customer pickups, showroom displays, and service units.

Additionally, the Detailer plays an essential role in the logistical operations of the dealership by participating in unloading incoming deliveries using forklifts or tractors and transporting units to appropriate areas such as storage lots, display floors, or delivery zones. The position also involves inventory verification through confirmation of packing lists or invoices and assisting with pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and vehicle identification number (VIN) verifications in cooperation with riggers and service specialists.

The role demands physical stamina and strength, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and operate heavy equipment safely in various weather conditions. Candidates must maintain a valid driver's license, pass ongoing driving eligibility checks, and possibly complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to workplace cleanliness and safety are essential.

  • High school education or equivalent experience
  • must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • ongoing verification of driving eligibility will be conducted to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards

Job Duties

  • Supports a strong commitment to world class customer service and ensure a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers
  • washes, cleans, waxes, vacuums interiors and exteriors of boats for scheduled customer pickups, display and service customer units
  • participates in the unloading of incoming boats, motors, trailers and ATVs using a forklift or tractor then transports them to various dealership areas such as storage lot, outside display, showroom floor or customer delivery area
  • confirms packing list or invoice of all boat loads or other product deliveries
  • transports and stages customer boats and ATVs to service, rigging and storage yard by moving units from one location to another
  • maintains an updated list of cleaning supplies and informs Service Manager or Service Lead of needed items
  • assists Rigger and Service Specialist with PDI and VIN verification processes
  • informs Service Manager or Service Lead of any unit concerns or required repairs
  • performs grounds and facility maintenance as required
  • keeps work area neat and clean
  • performs all other duties as assigned
