Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, renowned for its unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering inclusive work environments. The company operates a broad portfolio of prestigious brands, including the distinguished JW Marriott, which epitomizes luxury hospitality. JW Marriott hotels are located in gateway cities and distinctive resort destinations worldwide, offering associates an unparalleled work experience in a supportive, diverse community. These properties focus on holistic well-being, professional growth, and creating a unique environment where employees can pursue their passions while embodying the company’s legacy of genuine and intuitive service.

This role is based at the JW Marriott located at 1800 Bayshore Highway in Burlingame, California, a vibrant location that blends luxury and convenience to serve a range of group and individual clientele. The position is a full-time management role within the Sales and Marketing category, offering an hourly pay range of $45.19 to $61.06, with eligibility for bonuses. This opportunity represents a pivotal role in driving the sales team’s success and enhancing the property’s revenue through active group event booking, client relationship management, and strategic up-selling initiatives.

The Group Sales Manager collaborates closely with the Sales Office to secure group events in alignment with booking parameters, ensuring seamless coordination and realization of business objectives. A significant aspect of the role involves supporting off-property sales managers by organizing and conducting site inspections and visits, both for local and out-of-market accounts. This hands-on involvement ensures that all business is efficiently turned over to the relevant teams for high-quality service delivery.

In addition to managing sales activities, the role demands a proactive approach to maximizing revenue opportunities by up-selling hotel amenities and services such as spa, golf, and dining, enhancing the leisure and group guest experiences. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining clear communication with sales channels, fostering collaboration, and ensuring complementary efforts that avoid duplication. Building strong, lasting relationships with clients, walking them through the property, and acting as a personal concierge during onsite visits are key to sustaining customer loyalty and future bookings.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of professional sales experience and a passion for hospitality excellence. They will implement brand service strategies, contribute to promotional initiatives, and act as a vital link between clients and internal operational teams. By attending various meetings, understanding market trends, and monitoring competitor activity, the Group Sales Manager ensures the property remains competitive and responsive to the needs of the clientele.

Marriott International embraces diversity and is committed to equal employment opportunities, fostering an inclusive culture that values every associate’s unique background and experiences. This role is more than a job; it is a gateway to becoming part of a global team dedicated to the art of hospitality, where every interaction reflect Marriott’s renowned standards of excellence and integrity. Join JW Marriott and Marriott International to be where you can do your best work, begin your purpose, belong to an amazing global team, and become the best version of yourself.
