This management position within the Sales and Marketing category at The Westin Charlotte is a full-time role focused on partnering with the hotel’s Sales Office to maximize the booking and revenue potential of group events. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years experience in sales and marketing or related area
  • Or 2-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related major
  • 2 years experience in sales and marketing
  • Large group sales experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proactive sales and customer service attitude
  • Willingness to participate in community engagement activities

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in sales and marketing, guest services, or related professional area
  • Or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 2 years experience in sales and marketing
  • Large group sales experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to up-sell and close sales
  • Knowledge of Marriott Customer Service Standards and Brand Standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively across sales channels
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in planning and executing site inspections and events

Job Duties

  • Pulls through business and achieves revenue goals for all opportunities booking through the Sales Office
  • Partners with Area Sales to identify new group and catering business and achieve personal and property revenue goals
  • Partners with the Sales Office to book group events within the group booking parameters
  • Up-sells products and services with the ability to bring the sale to closure
  • Engages in proactive selling of all facilities such as Spa, Golf, Restaurants to leisure guests and group planners
  • Assists with selling, implementation and follow-through of group sales promotions
  • Provides accurate and effective turnover to Event Management
  • Coordinates and executes site inspections and visits for out-of-market and in-market sales managers
  • Partners with account and selling managers to develop creative site visits
  • Develops site standards and pricing guidelines
  • Understands competitor strengths and weaknesses and overall market trends
  • Provides expert knowledge on local destination and grows business of existing accounts
  • Tracks bookings and leads generated from site visits
  • Executes and supports Marriott’s Customer Service and Brand Standards
  • Monitors and resolves guest issues arising from the sales process
  • Verifies timely business turnover for quality service delivery
  • Implements brand service strategy and initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs
  • Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels to ensure complementary sales efforts
  • Engages in community-based organizations to position the property for sales opportunities
  • Meets with walk-in clients and qualifies leads
  • Builds and strengthens customer relationships
  • Attends and facilitates pre-planning visits
  • Acts as Personal Concierge to clients during site visits
  • Coordinates and delivers amenities and welcome notes to guest rooms
  • Partners with Event Management and Operations to exceed customer expectations
  • Participates in daily service basics of the brand
  • Executes exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty
  • Understands property’s target customer and service expectations to offer tailored business solutions
