Baker Tilly stands as a prominent advisory, tax, and assurance firm that provides clients with extensive coast-to-coast and global advantages across key regions in the United States and around the world. With major financial centers in New York, London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston, Baker Tilly is recognized for its substantial, international presence and professional excellence. Operating through an alternative practice structure that aligns with the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and applicable laws and standards, Baker Tilly US, LLP is a licensed independent CPA firm offering attest services, while Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP and its subsidiaries focus on delivering expert tax and business advisory services. As independent members of Baker Tilly International—a worldwide network encompassing 141 territories and 43,000 professionals—Baker Tilly firms collectively generate a combined global revenue of $5.2 billion, highlighting the scale and reach of the organization. They embrace a diverse and inclusive work environment, committed to equal opportunity employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or other legally protected characteristics.
The Deployment Manager role at Baker Tilly is a strategic and integral position designed to optimize the efficient use of the firm's resources by overseeing comprehensive resource planning, allocation, and utilization. This role functions not only as a coordinator but also as a trusted advisor to business units, ensuring alignment between talent deployment and the firm’s overarching business objectives. The Deployment Manager conducts detailed forecasting, comparing current schedules to historical data and project budgets, actively engaging with Delivery Managers to ensure schedule accuracy for recurring projects. They take responsibility for overseeing the careful assignment of team members across all levels, managing complementary workforces, and facilitating appropriate resource allocation based on timing, capacity, skills, and budget considerations.
This position demands a thorough understanding of staff skills, experiences, and career aspirations to optimally align client assignments and strategically manage skills inventories to identify any gaps or unique team nuances. The Deployment Manager addresses scheduling conflicts, escalates issues appropriately, and acts as an advisor to various stakeholders including People Managers, Service Line Team Leaders, and Project Principals in Charge. Responsibilities also extend to attending and preparing for regular internal meetings to discuss deployment strategies, project pipelines, and resource needs, while collaborating with other Deployment Managers for cross-utilization of resources across business units.
Utilization management forms a critical part of the role, requiring the Deployment Manager to use sophisticated scheduling tools to forecast hours, track utilisation rates, and monitor workload distribution. They communicate proactively with project leaders to ensure the workforce is effectively employed and investigate discrepancies between scheduled and billed time. The role also focuses on business relationship management, fostering strong connections at all levels within the firm and serving as the main contact for resource management inquiries.
The Deployment Manager supports various administrative and operational functions including maintaining accurate staff profiles and schedules, generating analytical reports, and collaborating with teams across Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Operations, and People Solutions to support workforce flexibility and career development. With a required minimum of five years experience preferably in professional services, excellent communication, organization, and client service skills, alongside technical proficiency particularly in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Power BI, this role offers a competitive compensation range between $92,580 and $175,530, subject to experience and location. This position is suited for individuals passionate about strategic resource management, responsible for driving operational excellence and helping advance Baker Tilly’s business objectives through expert resource utilization and planning.
