Job Description
This job opportunity is with a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee licensed to use McDonald's branding and food products. Unlike working directly for McDonald's USA, this position is hosted by a separate company responsible for all employment matters including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, scheduling, and supervision. This means the franchisee—not McDonald's USA—will be your employer and handle all decisions related to your employment. McDonald's USA is not involved in the hiring process or management of employees at the franchisee's restaurant. This unique relationship allows franchisees to operate with independent management while upholding McDonald’s high standards for service and quality.
The restaurant operates in the fast-paced food service industry, serving popular McDonald's menu items to customers who expect quick, friendly, and quality service. As part of a globally recognized brand, the franchise benefits from strong customer loyalty and brand recognition, yet also maintains the flexibility to manage local business operations effectively through its franchisee ownership.
The role offered is for a Department Manager within this franchise-owned McDonald's restaurant. Starting pay is competitive at $15.50 per hour with the additional benefits of paid vacation and educational opportunities through the Archways to Opportunity program. This includes options to earn a high school degree, receive college tuition assistance, and take English language classes. These programs reflect a strong commitment to employee growth and development beyond the job duties.
Department Managers are pivotal in leading shifts and ensuring customers receive fast, accurate, and friendly service during their visit. There are several departmental focuses for the Department Manager role. One can be in Guest Service, managing crew and managers to deliver great customer experiences, supervising sales promotions, and maintaining organized front counter, McCafé, and drive-thru operations. Another can be in the Kitchen Department, overseeing quality and safety in food preparation, controlling food costs, and ensuring kitchen staff receive proper training for existing and new menu items. Alternatively, one can manage the People Department, focusing on hiring qualified crew members, training them effectively, and scheduling them to meet restaurant sales and profit goals, as well as motivating and recognizing staff throughout their work tenure.
Previous managerial experience is preferred for this role, ideally within a restaurant, retail, or hospitality setting. The ideal candidate is a positive team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys flexible schedules, and has the passion to contribute to a high-energy, customer-focused team. Leadership skills and the ability to coach and inspire employees to perform at their best are essential.
This role is ideal for individuals seeking career advancement in a supportive environment with a clear pathway for personal and professional growth. Beyond the immediate job responsibilities, employees have access to valuable job training and college tuition assistance programs, helping them build their future while maintaining a satisfying career. The company promotes a culture of saying YES to opportunity, energy, skill-building, and individual authenticity, making it a great place to develop leadership capabilities and move forward in your career at your own pace.
In summary, this job provides a fulfilling career option with good benefits, opportunities for advancement, and a supportive work culture that values employee development through education and training, all within an independently owned and operated McDonald's franchise restaurant. Those passionate about customer service and leadership in a dynamic setting will find the work rewarding and rich with potential.
