Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 12 months retail or food service experience
  • ability to lift 50 pounds
  • capacity to stand and walk for 6-8 hours per day
  • capability to perform fine manipulation and use of hands for grasping, pushing, and pulling
  • ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • willingness to work in various temperature conditions including freezing and heat
  • availability for flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and ladders
  • commitment to following health and safety regulations
  • effective communication skills
  • teamwork orientation
  • ability to mentor and develop others

Job Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • excellent interpersonal, motivational, and team-building skills
  • capable of teaching others positively and constructively
  • solid product knowledge
  • advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies
  • proficient mathematical skills for financial performance and inventory management
  • demonstrated decision-making and leadership abilities
  • proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operational applications
  • 12+ months retail experience

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods team members
  • works with Prepared Foods trainer to train team members and build a high-performance team
  • assists in training new team members using checklists and materials
  • keeps cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated
  • opens and closes the department following procedures
  • ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • communicates team concerns to team leader and associate team leader
  • sets and achieves high standards of retail execution
  • fosters a positive environment of teamwork, mutual respect, and morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flows and directs team members accordingly
  • responds promptly to customer needs and questions
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels team members
  • provides timely and thoughtful performance evaluations
  • consistently communicates and models Whole Foods Market vision and goals
