Job Description
This job opportunity is with a restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee licensed to use McDonald's logos and food products. It is important to note that this franchisee functions as a separate company and employer from McDonald's USA. Employment decisions, including hiring, firing, discipline, supervision, staffing, and scheduling, are solely the responsibility of the franchisee, with no direct involvement from McDonald's USA. Applying for this role means your employment relationship will be directly with the franchisee, not McDonald's USA.
This position offers a dynamic and fulfilling career path within the fast-paced and well-known McDonald's brand environment. The role is designed to inspire employees to bring their best selves to work, offering flexible hours and opportunities to pursue education and skill development while being authentic in the workplace. The franchisee values team members who are energetic, purposeful, and motivated to contribute to fostering a positive workplace culture. The management team seeks individuals who enjoy coaching, developing leadership skills, and are passionate about helping run a restaurant that delivers both quality food and memorable customer experiences.
The role of Department Manager at this McDonald's restaurant involves a blend of leadership, operational excellence, and team development. Each manager typically leads shifts and ensures customers receive a fast, accurate, and friendly experience on every visit. Depending on the department they oversee, managers take charge of Systems such as Training, Food Safety, and Inventory Management. Responsibilities include setting goals, delegating tasks, following up on progress, and reporting outcomes to other managers and team members.
Specific department management could include the Guest Service Department, which focuses on ensuring the crew delivers excellent customer service, maintaining organized front counter, McCafé, and drive-thru areas, and effectively executing sales promotions. The Kitchen Department Manager ensures food quality and safety, controls food costs, and trains kitchen staff on preparation and new menu items. The People Department Manager concentrates on hiring qualified crew members, providing thorough training, creating efficient schedules, and fostering motivation and recognition for team members throughout their employment.
This position is ideal for individuals with prior management experience, preferably within the restaurant, retail, or hospitality industries. The franchisee values positive team players with flexible availability who thrive in the fast-paced McDonald’s environment. Applicants must be 18 years or older to qualify for a managerial role in corporate-owned and operated restaurants.
Beyond competitive pay, this role provides access to a comprehensive benefits package designed to support work-life balance and professional growth. Benefits include generous paid vacation time, paid holidays, sabbaticals, educational assistance through the Archways to Opportunity program offering high school equivalency completion and college tuition help, medical, dental and vision insurance, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, short- and long-term disability policies, life and accident insurance, paid leaves of absence, employee recognition awards, adoption assistance, and various employee resource programs.
Overall, this Department Manager role presents a valuable opportunity to join a respected brand at a locally operated restaurant, offering a supportive work environment and pathways for career growth. Candidates can expect to engage in hands-on management, develop leadership competencies, and contribute meaningfully to delivering outstanding customer experiences in a vibrant team atmosphere. If you are ambitious, enjoy working in a fast-moving setting, and want to expand your skills while benefiting from a strong support system, this could be the ideal role for you.
