The role of Business Assistant at Parkway Dental Care is a full-time position that requires a dedicated and motivated individual with dental experience to support the front office operations. This role is integral to ensuring smooth administrative functions and maintaining an excellent patient experience from the moment patients enter the office. The Business Assistant is responsible for a broad range of duties including greeting patients, managing communication channels such as phone calls, mail, and email, and operating dental practice management software like Dentrix. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a dental office
- Experience with insurance billing and accounts receivable processes
- Proficiency in Dentrix or similar dental software
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of patient information and adhering to HIPAA guidelines
- Willingness to participate in regular HIPAA training and protect PHI
- Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 15 pounds
- Available to attend periodic virtual or in-person training sessions
- Completion of tuberculosis test prior to employment, except in states of Florida and Tennessee
- Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
Job Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a dental setting
- 1+ years of experience with insurance billing and accounts receivable
- Dentrix or other dental software experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced and customer-centric environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards
Job Duties
- Greet and welcome patients as they enter the office to create a great first impression of our team
- Manage front office duties, including answering phones, checking office mail and email, communicating with patients and insurance companies
- Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and records
- Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple providers in the office
- File patient insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims, verification of benefits and explanation of coverage
- Post insurance and patient payments and process accounts receivables
- Review treatment plan fees and payment options with patients
- Partner with the providers and team to implement Heartland Dental systems to optimize office potential
