Job Description
The Food Bank for Larimer County is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to fighting food insecurity across Larimer County. The Food Bank collaborates with various community partners, local organizations, and volunteers to provide nutritious meals and essential resources to individuals and families facing food challenges. With a deep-rooted commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, especially children and families, the Food Bank operates programs tailored to address seasonal and situational food needs, including initiatives targeting hunger during school closures when children may miss out on vital meals.
This summer, the Food Bank for Larimer County is offering an exciting seasonal role for a Delivery Driver and Technician from May 16, 2026, through August 14, 2026. This position presents a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the organization's mission during the critical summer months when school meal programs are paused. As a Delivery Driver and Technician, you will be an essential part of a passionate team dedicated to combating childhood hunger by delivering nutritious meals to designated summer sites throughout Larimer County.
In this role, you will operate the Food Bank’s delivery van efficiently and safely, ensuring that all food, supplies, and equipment reach community meal sites on schedule. The position involves not only driving but also hands-on support with loading and unloading shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy both on the vehicle and at partner locations, and assisting with food preparation and kitchen operations. Your daily activities will include managing food safety standards, assisting with volunteer coordination, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in both the vehicles and kitchen spaces.
Beyond the logistical responsibilities, this role offers valuable community engagement opportunities. You will interact with the public, educating community members and volunteers about the Kids Cafe programs and the Food Bank’s broader mission. This engagement fosters stronger community relationships and promotes awareness about food insecurity in the region. The role emphasizes a professional yet empathetic approach, appreciating diverse perspectives and providing exceptional customer service through kindness and thoughtful communication.
The summer Delivery Driver & Technician position is a fantastic opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience in nonprofit operations, food distribution logistics, and community outreach. It suits candidates who enjoy working outdoors, driving, and being part of a mission-driven environment. With comprehensive training in food safety, community kitchen guidelines, and safety standards including OSHA compliance, you will build practical skills while making a tangible difference in the lives of families and children in Larimer County.
Ideal candidates will be responsible, attentive to detail, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently in tight timeframes. The role requires someone who values team collaboration but is also capable of working independently with minimal supervision. The physical demands include lifting and moving supplies, standing and walking extensively, and frequent movement across varied environments such as school sites and warehouse settings.
Join the Food Bank for Larimer County this summer to play a vital role in ensuring that no child in the community goes hungry. This position offers meaningful work experience, personal growth, and the chance to impact your community positively during a critical time of year. By becoming part of this dedicated team, you will help bridge the nutrition gap for children when they are most vulnerable, embodying values of compassion, service, and community empowerment.
