The Delivery Specialist role at O'Reilly Auto Parts is a critical position responsible for the safe and efficient operation of store delivery vehicles, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of parts and products to professional customers. This role also encompasses the collection of payments on cash on delivery (C.O.D.) orders and the management of customer returns. A Delivery Specialist is expected to maintain excellent communication with store management and customers, handling a variety of logistical tasks including the use of delivery fleet management handheld devices for processing deliveries, capturing customer confirmations, and updating essential vehicle data such as mileage and inspection results. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned, and secure along with company assets including keys, fuel and fleet credit cards, and collected monies.
Beyond basic delivery duties, the Delivery Specialist may assist with general warehouse activities such as stocking, merchandising, and customer service which may occasionally include cashier responsibilities. Flexibility is key in this position as needs can vary based on business demands. Job Requirements
- Must possess a legally required state driver’s license and meet company mandated driving eligibility requirements
- driving record must meet company’s 14/18-point record system standards
- ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing delivery situations
- strong interpersonal communication skills
- ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences
- willingness to perform other duties as assigned
- ability to keep delivery vehicles and company property secure
- ability to complete daily vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- valid state driver’s license with clean driving record
- strong interpersonal communication skills
- ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences
- experience with vehicle operation and maintenance preferred
- familiarity with automotive parts desired
- ability to operate light store equipment
- bilingual skills, Spanish highly desired
Job Duties
- Operate company vehicles to deliver parts and products to customers in a safe and efficient manner
- use delivery fleet management hand-held devices to process deliveries, capture customer signatures, update vehicle mileage, complete daily vehicle inspections
- keep vehicles clean, maintained, and complete daily vehicle inspections prior to operating
- secure delivery vehicles, keys, fuel/fleet credit cards, hand-held devices, and monies collected at all times
- pick up customer returns such as new, warranty, and core items and fill out driver return slips
- communicate any problems or special needs from customers to store management
- report vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or vehicle damage to store manager immediately
- ensure fuel tank is filled and lock and secure vehicle at end of day
- clock in/out according to company policy
- assist with customer service, stocking, merchandising, running errands, handling core returns, checking in and putting up stock orders
- may assist as a cashier and with merchandising tasks when business dictates
- perform other duties as assigned
