The Delivery Specialist role at O'Reilly Auto Parts is a critical position that ensures timely and safe delivery of parts and products to professional customers. This role demands a high level of responsibility as it involves operating company vehicles, handling customer payments during cash-on-delivery transactions, and managing customer returns such as new items, warranties, and core parts. In this role, the Delivery Specialist uses delivery fleet management devices to process deliveries efficiently, capture customer signatures, and update vehicle mileage. The specialist must maintain the cleanliness and functionality of delivery vehicles, perform daily inspections, and ensure the security of company assets such as keys, fuel cards, and devices at all times. Communication plays an essential part of the role, with the specialist responsible for reporting vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or damages promptly to the store manager. Additional responsibilities include assisting with customer service, merchandising, stocking, and general store tasks when needed.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing delivery situations
  • Driving record must meet company’s 14/18-point record system
  • Must possess a legally required state driver’s license
  • Must meet company mandated driving eligibility requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid state driver’s license meeting company driving eligibility requirements
  • Clean driving record according to company 14/18-point record system
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing delivery situations
  • Ability to operate delivery fleet management devices
  • Experience with automotive parts is desirable
  • Ability to operate light store equipment is a plus
  • Bilingual skills, especially Spanish, are highly preferred

Job Duties

  • Operate company vehicles to deliver parts and products to customers in a safe and efficient manner
  • Use delivery fleet management devices to process deliveries, capture customer signatures, update vehicle mileage, and complete daily vehicle inspections
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of vehicles
  • Secure delivery vehicles, keys, fuel cards, hand-held devices, and collected monies at all times
  • Pick up customer returns including new, warranty, and core parts, and complete driver return slips
  • Communicate customer issues or special needs to store management
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or damage immediately
  • Ensure fuel tank is filled and vehicle is locked and secured at the end of each day
  • Clock in and out according to company policy
  • Assist with customer service, merchandising, stocking, and other store duties as needed
