The Delivery Driver role at US Foods is a vital position that ensures customers receive their products safely, on time, and in excellent condition. This role involves operating commercial trucks to deliver food products to customers, managing inventory handling, verifying delivery accuracy, and providing outstanding customer service. Delivery Drivers at US Foods play a critical role as they represent the company while interacting directly with customers and maintaining high safety and operational standards.

This position generally involves working Monday through Friday, with dispatch times typically between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Routes usually consist of 10 to 12 hour shifts, though schedules may vary depending on business needs. Physical demands include lifting and moving products weighing between 20 to over 80 pounds repetitively, and working in various weather conditions with frequent stops. Safety is a strong focus, with pre-trip and post-trip inspections ensuring equipment is maintained and compliant.

US Foods requires drivers to be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid CDL Class A license with the appropriate endorsements and DOT qualifications, and have registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse as mandated by federal regulations. Experience in commercial driving, especially in food or beverage delivery, is preferred, and the ability to operate a manual transmission may be required in certain locations. Strong communication skills and English language proficiency are needed to understand traffic signs, respond to inquiries, and complete necessary documentation.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid CDL Class A license issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements
  • Registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • Minimum six (6) months commercial driving experience or three (3) months in food and beverage delivery industry
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 20-80+ lbs. repetitively during each shift
  • Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops
  • Ability to read and communicate in English

Job Qualifications

  • Valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six (6) months commercial driving experience in any industry or three (3) months in food and/or beverage delivery
  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to read and communicate in English, including understanding highway traffic signs and signals
  • Registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse

Job Duties

  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer using a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place products in designated customer storage areas
  • Date, stock, and rotate perishable products upon delivery in designated customer storage locations
  • Verify delivery accuracy with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance the customer experience
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections
