Job Description
Cardinal Health is a renowned healthcare services and products company that plays a vital role in the medical supply chain, providing pharmaceuticals, medical products, and services to hospitals, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers. As a leader in the healthcare industry, Cardinal Health offers innovative solutions that help improve patient care and enhance healthcare outcomes. With a strong focus on safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction, Cardinal Health supports its employees through comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth in a dynamic work environment. The company is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity, equality, and individual authenticity are celebrated, ensuring a positive and supportive atmosphere for all team members.
The role of a Nuclear Pharmacy Driver at Cardinal Health is a critical position responsible for the prompt and accurate delivery and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals and oncology pharmaceuticals to medical care providers. This position involves handling highly specialized and sometimes sensitive pharmaceutical products that require strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards, including Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver is tasked with preparing doses for shipment, packaging radiopharmaceutical medication, ensuring cases and doses are properly prepared and wiped, loading and unloading containers efficiently, and maintaining the safety and integrity of the products throughout the delivery process.
Working approximately 40 hours per week, typical schedules include Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with flexibility required to work holidays, weekends, and varied shifts depending on business needs. The role also demands participation in a paid on-call rotation and requires availability to rotate schedules, reflecting the crucial nature of timely delivery in a healthcare setting. With a pay rate of $18.00 per hour, the position includes access to a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, health savings accounts, and a 401k savings plan, among others.
The Nuclear Pharmacy Driver operates company vehicles (non-CDL) to deliver medications to customer accounts, navigating efficiently using handheld tablets for order verification and route optimization. Duties extend to testing and processing returned packages, minor vehicle maintenance, and facility cleaning. Safety and regulatory compliance are emphasized, with training provided in areas such as biohazard waste handling, radiation safety, security awareness, and safe driving practices. Employees are also expected to maintain accurate logbooks and vehicle inspection records, ensuring a transparent and accountable delivery process. This role requires physical stamina for lifting, comfort driving in all weather conditions, and strong communication skills to provide excellent customer service.
Cardinal Health values veterans and individuals returning to work, as well as people with disabilities and those without a college degree. The company is dedicated to supporting all employees with the necessary training, certifications, and resources to thrive in the position. This opportunity offers a meaningful career in healthcare logistics with an employer who prioritizes safety, integrity, and employee well-being.
