This particular position is for a box truck driver based in Heath, Ohio, tasked with driving straight trucks or vans on local routes both intrastate and interstate. The role demands reliability, flexibility, and a strong focus on safety to ensure timely and secure delivery of various food and related products to Core-Mark’s valued customers. Drivers are home daily with no overnight stays required, and must be available to work Tuesday through Friday with flexible dispatch times. The pay range is competitive from $17 to $25 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role in supporting America’s food distribution system.
The driver is responsible for maintaining compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Core-Mark’s safety policies, including performing pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and trailer. They must ensure freight is loaded and secured properly and complete accurate paperwork for all deliveries and returns. The job includes unloading and delivering goods directly to customers, obtaining signatures, and handling customer payments when necessary. Attention to detail, effective communication, and professionalism are essential for interacting with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Additionally, the driver performs general housekeeping duties to keep tractors, dock areas, and trailers clean and organized. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- 6+ months of experience driving a box truck
- valid non-commercial driver’s license
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- must be 21 years of age
- clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- pass DOT pre-employment drug test and physical
- pass road test
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- 6+ months box truck driving experience
- valid non-commercial driver’s license
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- must be 21 years of age
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass DOT pre-employment drug test and physical
- pass road test
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of truck/van and trailer according to DOT regulations
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- inspect truck/van for properly loaded and secured freight
- perform count check of items and verify customer invoices
- drive to and deliver customer orders according to assigned delivery schedule
- unload products from truck/van and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- collect money where required
- ensure truck, van and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times
- unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and trailers
- complete all necessary paperwork at end of shift
- perform other related duties as assigned
