The Delivery Driver (non-CDL) position at American Tire Distributors offers a challenging and fulfilling role centered on the timely and safe delivery of products to customers. This hourly position pays $21.00 and emphasizes delivering exceptional customer service through professional interactions and responsible driving practices. The driver is tasked with ensuring that products arrive on time and are unloaded and staged accurately at the customer’s place of business.

Key responsibilities include adhering to company safety policies, complying with state and federal transportation regulations, verifying product accuracy, collecting payments, maintaining proper delivery documentation, and occasionally operating industrial vehicles such as forklifts and pallet jacks. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to efficiently manage deliveries while representing the company professionally.

The work environment involves important physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent walking, and operating various equipment. The role involves exposure to different weather conditions and requires travel up to 75 percent of the time with no overnight stays, making it well-suited for individuals who enjoy an active job with a variety of tasks.

Job Requirements

  • High school or GED degree
  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred
  • valid non-CDL driver’s license
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • good vision including color and depth perception
  • willingness to travel up to 75 percent of the time with no overnight stays
  • compliance with company safety policies and state and federal regulations

Job Duties

  • Abide by all company safety policies and state and federal transportation regulations
  • assist in verification of all outgoing and incoming product for accuracy in terms of size, amount and type
  • collect payments from customers in monetary form acceptable to company
  • efficiently unload cargo and stage products at customer's place of business
  • ensure all administrative paperwork concerning delivery orders required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies delivery
  • maintain professional representation of the company in all interactions with customers and through responsible driving
  • maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver's logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records and other records required by law and company policy
  • occasionally operate powered industrial vehicles such as forklift pallet jacks, order pickers, etc.
  • timely transportation of product from origin to destination as assigned
