Job Description

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent and leading supplier in the United States specialized in industrial, medical, and specialty gases, alongside hardgoods and related products. As one of the largest US providers of safety products and a key supplier of ammonia products and process chemicals, Airgas serves a wide range of industries and customers. The company prides itself on a culture grounded in safety, sustainability, customer success, and innovation that is driven by the passion and diversity of its 18,000 associates. Airgas is a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, operating in 60 countries with around 66,500 employees worldwide. This extensive network allows Airgas to maintain a robust supply chain and consistent quality standards to its customers, including universities, laboratories, and various industries relying heavily on dry ice and cold shipping supplies.

Airgas is currently hiring a Delivery Driver with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B for their Charlotte, North Carolina Gateway branch focused on dry-ice logistics. The role offers a competitive compensation rate of $24.00 per hour and includes a referral bonus of $1,000 for successful recruitment. Work schedules are designed with flexibility in mind, typically Monday through Thursday with occasional Fridays, and early start times ranging from 3 to 5 am. Drivers can expect an average of 40+ hours per week and about 8 to 12 delivery stops per day. This position involves driving CDL B trucks equipped with liftgates to deliver dry ice to various customer locations. Drivers are responsible not only for transportation but also for operating warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload dry ice safely and efficiently.

The role entails performing pre- and post-trip inspections consistent with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company standards, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, securing cargo, and adhering strictly to safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company protocols. Aside from technical responsibilities, drivers are expected to provide excellent customer service, gather customer feedback, and report to the Branch Manager. This role offers a comprehensive family benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverages, along with a 14-week paid childbirth benefit aimed at supporting employees and their families. Employees gain access to future security programs such as a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Notably, benefits eligibility begins after just 30 days of employment, ensuring prompt access to support and healthcare resources.

Joining Airgas means becoming part of a company that values diversity, inclusion, and equitable employment practices. The company actively fosters a workplace culture that welcomes unique perspectives and promotes innovation and growth. Airgas is committed to equal opportunity employment, encouraging applications from candidates of all backgrounds, and providing reasonable accommodations to support employees with disabilities.
