Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline foodservice distributor, operating as part of Performance Food Group (PFG). The company services a diverse customer base comprising independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Their commitment goes beyond just delivering food products; they foster strong relationships with their customers through a team of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and experts who provide tailored advice on improving operational efficiency, menu development, product selection, and overall strategic planning. This dedication positions Performance Foodservice not only as a supplier but also as a business partner in helping independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their goals and thrive in a competitive marketplace.

The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is crucial in sustaining the food distribution network across various regions. This role involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck across intrastate and interstate routes, including local deliveries, over-the-road assignments, shuttle operations, overnight shifts, and drive-and-drop routes. The position follows a rotating schedule of a four-day workweek within Monday through Friday hours, with the possibility of an occasional fifth day as necessary. Employees enjoy competitive pay with an average effective hourly rate of approximately $38 after training, and a $10,000 sign-on bonus is available under specific terms, excluding recent PFG employees.

In this role, drivers serve as the primary point of contact representing Performance Foodservice to customers by ensuring timely, accurate, and safe delivery of food and related products. Responsibilities extend beyond driving to include vehicle safety inspections compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, proper loading and unloading of freight, verification of deliveries through paperwork and customer signatures, and maintaining secure and clean equipment. Safety is paramount, with rigorous adherence to DOT regulations and company policies to ensure the integrity of deliveries and the welfare of personnel and the public.

Performance Foodservice fosters a safe and inclusive work environment emphasizing respect, recognition, and a culture of rewards. Alongside compensation, employees have access to comprehensive benefits starting from day one, including health and wellness plans, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance programs, and paid time off. The company also provides clear opportunities for career growth for individuals committed to supporting the essential work of America’s food distribution system. This role is ideal for professional drivers looking to engage in meaningful employment with a reputable company that values employee welfare and customer satisfaction equally.
