Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor dedicated to supporting America’s food supply chain. With a special focus on serving a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, Performance Foodservice offers not just food but comprehensive operational support. The company boasts a skilled team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts who work closely with customers to provide valuable advice regarding operational improvement, menu development, product selection, and strategic growth initiatives. This commitment to fostering strong, lasting relationships goes beyond merely delivering food products; it empowers independent restaurant owners and other foodservice operators to realize their business goals and dreams.

Performance Food Group provides a safe and inclusive work environment that prioritizes employee wellbeing and professional growth. The company promotes a culture of recognition, respect, and reward, offering a variety of attractive benefits including day-one health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, educational assistance, and paid time off. The position under consideration is a full-time CDL-A delivery driver role with a competitive hourly wage averaging $38 after training. The delivery schedule follows a rotating four-day work week Monday through Friday, with occasional fifth working days as necessary. Additionally, there is a generous $10,000 sign-on bonus available under qualifying conditions.

The CDL-A Driver plays a vital role in the food supply chain by ensuring the accurate, timely, and safe delivery of food and food-related products to customers across various routes, including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight assignments. The driver operates tractor trailers or straight trucks with responsibility for loading, unloading, securing freight, and maintaining compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Daily duties include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, carefully managing delivery paperwork and customer invoices, and addressing safety hazards promptly. Drivers must also establish and maintain professional interactions with customers, vendors, and co-workers, reflecting the company’s commitment to quality customer service and operational excellence.

This dynamic role demands attention to detail, a strong safety orientation, and the ability to manage both the physical aspects of the job, such as lifting heavy products and operating equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates, as well as administrative responsibilities including maintaining accurate logs of hours of service and compliance documentation. Drivers work collaboratively within their departments, contributing to team efforts and performing any assigned duties that support overall company success.

Performance Foodservice is proud of its inclusive hiring practices and adheres strictly to equal employment opportunity (EEO) guidelines, ensuring a workplace free from discrimination based on race, color, national origin, gender, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status under federal, state, or local laws. This reflects the company’s broader commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion at all organizational levels. By joining Performance Foodservice as a CDL-A delivery driver, candidates become part of a respected and forward-thinking organization that values each team member’s contribution to feeding communities and driving growth in the foodservice industry.
