The role of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is a vital position that supports the nation’s food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food products to customers. Drivers are responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes, including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. This role requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards, making safety a top priority throughout every aspect of the job.

Delivery Drivers represent the face of Performance Foodservice to its customers and play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining lasting relationships through professional communication and exceptional service. Beyond driving duties, drivers perform essential tasks such as conducting thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips; verifying that freight is properly loaded, secured, and documented; unloading and handling products safely; and completing accurate paperwork and logs in accordance with federal and company policies. They also address any safety issues promptly and ensure that equipment, trailers, and freight are always secured and maintained in pristine condition.

The work schedule is generally Monday through Friday, though it may include occasional Saturdays and layovers, with shifts averaging more than 12 hours. Employees have options for four or five-day workweeks, providing a degree of flexibility.
