Job Description
Cardinal Health is a leading healthcare services and products company dedicated to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare. With a strong focus on pharmaceuticals, medical products, and services, Cardinal Health supports hospitals, pharmacies, and clinics to deliver quality care to patients worldwide. The company is highly regarded for its commitment to innovation, safety, and customer satisfaction within the pharmaceutical distribution sector. Operating within a highly regulated industry, Cardinal Health emphasizes compliance with federal and state laws to maintain the highest standards in healthcare delivery and logistics. The company’s integrated supply chain solutions enable seamless distribution and management of vital medications including radiopharmaceuticals and oncology pharmaceuticals, which require specialized handling and timely delivery to medical care providers.
This opportunity is for the role of Nuclear Pharmacy Driver at Cardinal Health, offering a foundational position within the Pharmacy Services and Delivery division. This role is essential in ensuring the prompt and accurate delivery and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals and oncology pharmaceuticals, which are critical in medical treatments and diagnostic procedures. The position operates on a full-time basis with a standard 40-hour work week scheduled Monday through Friday, starting between 2:00am and 8:00am. Flexibility is crucial as the role requires the driver to be on-call at least one weekday per month, live within 30 miles of the pharmacy, and be prepared to work rotating holidays and variable schedules as needed.
The Nuclear Pharmacy Driver will be responsible for preparing pharmaceutical doses for shipment, meticulously packaging and labeling products in strict adherence to safety and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver will load and unload shipment containers carefully, ensuring the integrity of the medications throughout the delivery process. Utilizing handheld tablets for route navigation and order verification, this role demands a high level of accuracy and efficiency to maintain the timely delivery of life-saving pharmaceuticals to customer accounts.
Physical fitness is a requirement in this job due to the handling of containers weighing up to 75 pounds and the necessity to endure driving during various weather conditions at day or night hours. Customer service skills are essential, as the driver represents Cardinal Health to healthcare providers and must communicate effectively to uphold the company’s reputation. The position entails routine vehicle maintenance and minor roadside repairs to guarantee safe operation during all deliveries. Training programs are provided covering biohazard handling, radiation safety, HIPAA compliance, safe driving techniques, and ergonomic best practices to ensure the driver’s safety and professional development.
Cardinal Health offers competitive compensation starting at $17.00 per hour, along with a $1000 new hire sign-on bonus, enhancing the attractiveness of this position. The company is well known for its comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, health savings accounts, and 401k savings plans. Employees gain access to wellness and work-life resources including parental leave and disability coverage, supporting their overall health and well-being. Inclusive employment practices are a hallmark of Cardinal Health’s culture, promoting diversity and equal opportunity for all candidates including veterans, people with disabilities, and those returning to the workforce. This role represents a valuable entry point into a stable career within the healthcare logistics sector with opportunities for growth and development.
