The role of Nuclear Pharmacy Driver at Cardinal Health is a critical position that directly contributes to the company's mission by ensuring the prompt, accurate, and safe delivery of radiopharmaceuticals and oncology pharmaceuticals to medical care providers. This role involves preparing doses for shipment, handling specialized pharmaceutical products according to strict safety and Department of Transportation regulations, and operating company vehicles on assigned delivery routes. The position typically requires working 40 hours per week, primarily from Monday through Friday, with shifts from 3:00 AM to 11:00 AM, alongside a rotating schedule for weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as business needs dictate.

A successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all deliveries meet quality assurance standards, utilizing technology such as handheld tablets for route management and package scanning to enhance efficiency and accuracy. This role also includes vehicle maintenance duties, minor roadside repairs, and adherence to rigorous safety protocols including radiation safety, biohazard waste handling, and HIPAA compliance. The Nuclear Pharmacy Driver must be physically capable of lifting containers weighing up to 75 pounds and be comfortable driving in varying weather conditions, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • valid driver’s license
  • minimum 18 years of age
  • good driving record
  • physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds

  • flexibility to work different shifts
  • basic computer and tablet proficiency

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent or equivalent work experience preferred
  • must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record
  • minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle
  • prior delivery driving experience a plus
  • ability to lift containers weighing up to 75 pounds
  • comfortable driving in all weather conditions during day or night hours
  • ability to sit, stand, be mobile and operate a vehicle for extended periods of time
  • strong customer service and communication skills
  • ability to work weekends or be in a weekend rotation required
  • ability to work holidays or be in a holiday rotation required
  • ability to work on call or be in an on call rotation required
  • flexibility to work various shifts or overtime as needed
  • ability to use computers and tablets

Job Duties

  • Prepares and makes deliveries to customer accounts on assigned route using a company vehicle
  • packages radiopharmaceutical medication for shipment, performs testing, and loads/unloads containers
  • uses a handheld tablet to scan customer orders for accuracy, obtain route stop information and navigation
  • processes packages returned from customer locations
  • maintains vehicles in proper working condition and may perform minor roadside repairs
  • performs general facility cleaning and other duties as required
  • demonstrates basic knowledge of process and systems that support product delivery including technology assisted packaging system and route optimization tablet
