The Delivery and Warehouse Associate role at Farmers Furniture is a crucial position that supports both the logistical and operational sides of the business. This position involves loading and unloading trucks, managing merchandise inventory in the warehouse, assembling products, and providing delivery services directly to customers' homes or businesses. The Delivery and Warehouse Associate position also demands compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and the ability to meet physical demands such as lifting heavy objects, operating delivery trucks safely, and performing routine maintenance on vehicles. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • six months experience in a distribution or warehouse environment
  • valid State Driver’s License
  • familiarity with the delivery area
  • ability to meet DOT requirements including Medical Examiners Certification and Driver’s DOT qualification file
  • physical ability to exert heavy effort including lifting items up to and exceeding 100 pounds
  • ability to perceive and discriminate colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues
  • ability to communicate orally
  • willingness to work under varying environmental conditions including dirt, dust, temperature extremes, and chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • ability to operate equipment, machinery, tools, and materials requiring complex adjustments
  • ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

Job Duties

  • Drives truck in assigned zone or area to deliver products purchased by customer
  • loads truck in preparation for daily deliveries
  • unloads merchandise at customer location and sets up as necessary
  • obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery
  • records deliveries on delivery record and submits to appropriate management
  • monitors proper maintenance of and regular inspection of vehicles for adherence to safety practices
  • performs general maintenance of vehicles
  • records fuel and fluid usage and submits to management
  • unloads merchandise from warehouse and freight trucks
  • maintains cleanliness of store and warehouse interior and grounds and upholds the company’s delivery standards
  • places stock on shelves or racks and sets up merchandise and sales promotion displays
  • assembles merchandise as required
  • assists with repossessions of goods
  • performs general maintenance and grounds keeping duties for warehouse and or store
  • performs customer service inspections and or repairs as needed
  • performs collection field calls to delinquent customers at the request of management
  • upholds and promotes H.O.M.E. values
