The Deli Server role at Workman's Travel Centers involves working primarily on the 2nd Shift and reports directly to the Deli Manager. Working an average of 32-40 hours weekly with opportunities to pick up extra shifts, the Deli Server plays a crucial role in fulfilling customer food orders, handling transactions, and ensuring that food serving size requirements are met to minimize loss, waste, and fraud. Responsibilities of the Deli Server include greeting customers warmly, preparing and portioning food according to established guidelines, and managing cash transactions with accuracy. The server must comply with all health regulations and personal hygiene standards, including wearing appropriate uniforms and maintaining cleanliness in the deli area. This role also involves monitoring food temperatures before service, storing food safely, and communicating effectively with the Deli Cook about food preparation needs. Additionally, the Deli Server enforces policies regarding the sale of tobacco products, verifying customers' ages in accordance with federal and state laws to prevent underage sales.

Job Duties

  • responsible for checking ID for any person who does not clearly appear to be at least 40 years of age in accordance with store policy and follows all Federal and State Laws regarding sale of tobacco products
  • denies sale of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21, any person who is purchasing on behalf of a minor, and anyone without valid government issued photo ID
  • rings up deli customers, receives payment and tenders change
  • attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • performs other job duties as assigned
